Overview
glancED ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at glancedhub.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. glancED is a free platform — you can read every topic, use flashcards, and browse jobs without creating an account or giving us any personal data.
Where consent is required, we only load analytics and advertising services after you choose your preferences.
What data we collect
Data you give us voluntarily:
- Email address — only if you subscribe to our newsletter. This is entirely optional.
- No name, phone number, or payment information is ever collected.
Data we collect automatically:
- Search queries — we log the terms you search for (anonymised, no IP or user ID attached) to understand what content is missing from the site.
- Page view counts — we track how many times each topic page is viewed as an aggregate number, not tied to any individual.
- Standard server logs — web servers automatically record IP addresses, browser user-agent, and pages visited. These logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
Data we do NOT collect:
- No account data (there are no user accounts for visitors)
- No purchase or payment data
- No location beyond what a standard IP lookup may infer
- No sensitive personal data (health, race, religion, etc.)
How we use it
- Newsletter email: to send you new topic and job updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Search queries: to identify content gaps and decide what to write next. Data is aggregated and not linked to individuals.
- Page views: to show authors which topics are most read and to surface trending content on the homepage.
- Server logs: for security monitoring and debugging. Not used for advertising profiling.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the site. Each has its own privacy policy:
Consent & preferences
Where the law requires consent, we show a banner that lets you accept or reject analytics and advertising scripts. Your choice is stored locally in your browser so we can respect it on future visits.
You can change your selection any time on the Consent Preferences page. If you reject analytics or ads, the core site still works normally.
Advertising
To keep glancED free, we display advertisements. We use (or plan to use) Google AdSense.
How Google AdSense works: Google uses cookies and similar technologies to display ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
Where consent is required, AdSense loads only after you accept advertising or all non-essential scripts.
Your choices:
- Opt out of personalised ads at google.com/settings/ads
- Use the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out
- Contextual (non-personalised) ads do not use cookies to track your browsing history.
We may also include affiliate links to third-party products (such as courses or tools). If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships are disclosed where they exist.
Your rights (GDPR / privacy rights)
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with privacy laws, you have the following rights:
- Right to access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data (e.g. remove your newsletter subscription).
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at yr36363@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
To unsubscribe from the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any email we send — or email us and we will remove you immediately.
Children's privacy
glancED is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves (e.g. when new features or advertising partners are added). When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will add a notice on the homepage.
We encourage you to review this page periodically.
